I am a part of a wonderful math teacher fellowship called Math for America (not to be confused with Teach for America) and every year they host an annual gala event at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Manhattan. For the past two years I’ve thought about staying over but either a) didn’t have enough points or b) the free night as part of the Chase Marriott Rewards card was not for that tier of hotel.
Enter: the IHG Rewards Credit Card. Every year it gives a free reward night for use anywhere in the world. There is not the same kind of limitation as with the Marriott card. So, I found the InterContinental Hotel around the corner from the gala and booked a night there. As you can see, for the night in question it would have been a whopping $629.99!
Instead, we are paying $0. The card itself has a $49 annual fee, so I would argue this makes it all worth it.
Even if we didn’t have the card, we would probably use that night somewhere else during the year for a wedding or small trip somewhere. It definitely makes the $49 worth it.
I last wrote about the IHG promotion when I had just learned of it and had put some effort to trial it out. I sent in 10 envelopes that with hand-written notecards made of the details (mostly address, account numbers, etc) to submit an entry. It took me a little over three weeks, but I did receive 9 emails (and 1 a few days later) with the information on how to play.
After clicking the link and selecting a “floor” (which is really just a random number generator, I’m sure), I was shown my lowest possible prize:
I still haven’t actually received an email from then explaining how to “redeem my Priceless Surprise” but I checked my account balance using Award Wallet and was impressed to see the total amount of points had already been added to my account (I had received one 1000 point bonus).
After talking to my wife about this success, she and I both are going to submit the 94 entries each (only 84 for me!) to get our points. The promotion goes until February 15, 2016. Good luck!
As I am an avid reader of various blogs I was excited to find out about a promotion with Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) and Mastercard that could earn an entrant tens of thousands of IHG points for some time and effort on their part. So, I read the instructions at DeaslWeLike and followed suit. Apparently, each entry is sure to receive SOME kind of prize, with the lowest being 500 IHG points, so I became determined!
I spent time making 10 notecards with specific information about me on them and then mailed them away to get a prize. Hopefully within the next week I will receive emails allowing me to play their game and see what I have won.
I’ll keep you up-to-date.
