I tell all my friends that if they ever want I could send them a referral link to the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. It is probably the best credit card to have for my current generation (if not everyone) due to its benefit of double points on all travel and restaurant purchases. Additionally, I have saved so much money since it lacks foreign transaction fees and provides primary auto insurance coverage.
One benefit that is not often used, I’m sure, due to its time limitation is that the first Friday of every month allows for a triple bonus at restaurants. Very unfortunately, this benefit will be leaving us in 2016.
My wife and I were very strategic in using this benefit for our recent May wedding since our caterer was a local restaurant to the venue. We asked the event coordinator to run our credit card on the first Friday of may in order to maximize our bonus, and she was more than willing to oblige. She laughed at the mention of points and miles in relation to our wedding!
As you can see we spent quite a lot of money during the month of May, coupled with a double point bonus for dining and the triple point bonus for “First Friday Dining,” we earned 56,229 points just for the catering of our wedding. Granted, I would have liked it to be less expensive, but hey.
So, if you are planning any kind of big event in the next few months of 2015, be sure to run your own credit card and get reimbursed on the First Fridays remaining so you can maximize your own benefit.
